Dubstep group Magnetic Man have been added to the line up of this year's Coachella.

Formed by three of the scene's originators, dubstep trio Magnetic Man began life as an English Arts Council project. Deciding to move in a pop direction, the group were rewarded with enormous chart success.

Taking bass music into the mainstream, the trio smashed their way into the Top Ten. Scoring a series of enormous hit singles, Magnetic Man blended pop melody with their bone crushing production.

Now Magnetic Man are set to take their live show to the United States. The trio have been named on the bill for Coachella, appearing alongside The Strokes, Arcade Fire, Kanye West and more.

An important stepping stone for new acts, the appearance will boost dubstep's profile in the United States. With even Britney Spears saluting the scene, could bass music seize control of the American charts?

Wait and see...

Elsewhere, Coachella can boast appearances from Caspa, Mary Anne Hobbs, Robyn and more. Nu rave icons Klaxons are set to appear, while Canadian chiptune terrorists Crystal Castles will also make an appearance.

Paying much more attention to electronic music, the Coachella line up has also found room for future garage producer Joy Orbison and post-dubstep duo Mount Kimbie.

However it's not a complete electronic takeover. The likes of Lightning Bolt and HEALTH have confirmed their involvement, while Animal Collective will play a much hyped slot on the second day.

Coachella runs between April 15th - 17th.
