R.E.M. have ruled out a full scale world tour after the release of their album 'Collapse Into Now'.
Perhaps their powers may have dimmed somewhat in recent years but R.E.M. remain an enthralling live experience. Few bands have such an extensive back catalogue to call on, with the Georgia mavericks capable of changing their set completely each night.
Touring across the world in 2008, R.E.M. delighted fans with a set dripping with political leanings. Taking time off to focus on their new album 'Collapse Into Now', some fans had anticipated another tour.
Now manager Bertis Downs has dashed these hopes. Due for release on March 8th, 'Collapse Into Now' will not be followed by a world tour.
Speaking to Athens Music & Arts the manager explained that R.E.M. do not always follow a studio release with a tour, and this was one of those examples. Hopefully the memories of 2008 will be able to pacify fans...
