Swedish indie pop types Peter, Bjorn & John are set to release new track 'Second Chance' on February 7th.
With their third album 'Writer's Block' Swedish trio Peter, Bjorn & John seemed set to smash their way into the mainstream. A stunning album, it was buoyed by the irresistible success of the hit single 'Young Folks'.
Since then, the trio have managed to avoid the mainstream by evolving into something much more interesting. Alternating between experimentation and classic songwriting, new album 'Gimme Some' looks set to unite the two.
Peter, Bjorn & John hooked up with respected Swedish producer Per Sunding. Working at his studio complex in Malmo, the trio recently told Spin: "We needed someone who can make us play differently, someone to remember to back up the hard drive!"
The results are typically impressive. For their sixth album Peter, Bjorn & John have injected a certain freshness which recent material perhaps lacked. Far from a reinvention, this is merely three songwriters on full flow.
A return to their pop roots, Peter, Bjorn & John cite CSN&Y and James Taylor as major influences. Lilting acoustic pop, the trio will preview the new album with the single 'Second Chance' on February 7th.
Released via Cooking Vinyl, the track is the first indication of what fans can expect from 'Gimme Some'. Confirming details of a short British tour, Peter, Bjorn & John plan to preview the album on the upcoming dates.
Opening with a sold out show in London on February 23rd, the tour continues with shows in London, Manchester and more. Ending in Glasgow on April 1st tickets for all British dates are on sale now.
