Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner has contributed to the soundtrack of Richard Ayode's new film.

Arctic Monkeys returned last year in low key fashion. The band's third album 'Humbug' was released with the minimum of fuss, mixing the group's storming indie rock with a lush palette borrowed from Last Shadow Puppets.

Touring to widespread acclaim, the band seem to have discovered a love of cinema. Arctic Monkeys guest starred in the new Shane Meadows flick, which follows a fictional roadie who works with the band.

Now the Sheffield indie titans are due to take part in the soundtrack of a new Richard Ayode project. Singer Alex Turner has recorded a number of tracks for the upcoming film, joining an all star cast.

Simian Mobile Disco producer James Ford has been recruited to oversee the soundtrack, ContactMusic reports, which will be released later this year.

Best known for his roles in 'The IT Crowd' and 'The Mighty Boosh' Richard Ayode is also an acclaimed director. A close friend of the band he was picked to oversee their concert film 'At The Apollo'.

In addition to this Arctic Monkeys have worked with the director for the award winning videos to 'Fluorescent Adolescent', 'Crying Lightning' and 'Cornerstone'.

The film itself is based on Joe Dunthorne's acclaimed novel 'Submarine'. A tragi-comic tale about growing up in Britain, it follows a 15 year old boy who is attempting to lose his virginity and keep his parents together at the same time.

Meanwhile, the bromance between Arctic Monkeys and P Diddy has only increased. Drummer Matt Helders is now a close friend of the hip hop star, and has been invited to join his live band.

The pair will launch a new tour later this summer.
