New York based dance rockers Ratatat are to give away copies of their new album at an upcoming tour.

The dynamics of the music industry are shifting. Ever since the explosive growth of the internet overtook physical sales bands have relied more and more on money generated from touring.

Releasing their aptly titled fourth album 'LP4' earlier this year, Ratatat found acclaim for their pulsating blend of dance and rock. The two piece take equal inspiration from both, with live shows finding the duo stretching out.

'LP4' found widespread acclaim but didn't come close to denting the charts. Signed to XL Recordings, Ratatat benefited from high profile TV appearances and even donated two tracks to Kid Cudi's album.

Yet the band still can't shift copies of 'LP4'. As a nifty way of getting their music out there, Ratatat have decided to give digital versions of the new album away on their forthcoming North American tour.

Opening in Montreal on September 7th, ticket holders will be given a unique code which allows them to download the album for free. Containing some 23 dates, the tour will take Ratatat across the continent.

Finishing with a show at New York's Terminal 5,the run of shows moves across the United States. Aside from shows in Atlanta, Los Angeles and more the duo are set to play Washington DC's legendary 9:30 Club - famed for giving birth to the hardcore punk movement.

Live, the duo mix dance punk sounds with a psychedelic lightshow. Swirling patterns accompany their spiralling grooves, with snippets for long lost B-movies thrown in for good measure.
