American rap superstar Eminem has held onto the number one slot with his album 'Recovery'.
It's been a hell of a summer for Eminem. The rapper returned with his new album 'Recovery', which signalled the beginning of a new period in his career. Enjoying making music again, the hip hop guru teamed up with Dr Dre for another blast of trouble making fun.
Released to widespread acclaim, 'Recovery' topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Knocked off the top spot in the UK by Kylie Minogue, the rapper stole pole position back from the pop princess last week.
Now Eminem has retained the number one slot. 'Recovery' tops the charts once again, holding off competition from UK grime star turned pop phenomenon Professor Green. Riding high in the singles chart, the Lily Allen backed rapper was forced to make do with second place behind Eminem.
Elsewhere, Plan B moved up to third slot with his new album 'The Defamation Of Strickland Banks'. Ignored by the Mercury Music Prize panel, the record is an ambitious concept album about a lost 60s soul icon.
One band who did gain a nomination are The xx. Widely hailed as the favourite for the Mercury, the group have enjoyed a massive boost to their profile already.
Debut album 'xx' rushed up the charts, moving up some thirty places. Sitting at sixteen, The xx had previously been languishing at number 44.
Other new entries include Earth, Wind & Fire with their latest 'Greatest Hits' while the new Richard Ashcroft project United Nations Of Sound also made an appearance.
The one time Verve singer has recruited producers and MCs for the new band, which has divided fans.
