British newcomer Anna Calvi has been forced to cancel her upcoming tour after suffering a back injury.
Emerging with a handful of singles last year, it was clear that Anna Calvi wasn't some shy and retiring female songwriter. Accompanied by her trusty Telecaster, the singer's resonating voice wrapped itself around some ambitious material.
Signed to Domino, Anna Calvi's impressive debut album was released earlier this year. A mixture of PJ Harvey, Patti Smith and a dollop of The Boss it was by turns euphoric and despairing, literate and primitive.
Announcing a series of British shows, Anna Calvi aimed to take her album on the road. However after complaining of back pains the singer was taken to a doctor, who advised the cancellation of the British shows.
As a result, all upcoming dates have been shelved. Announced on Facebook, the singer apologised for the move and explained that she hoped the shows could be re-arranged as quickly as possible.
"We regret to inform you that due to injury Anna has been forced to postpone the remainder of the UK tour. We hope to have more news as soon as possible on rescheduling of shows" said the short statement.
The cancelled dates include a show at Birmingham venue Hare & Hounds. Due to play Glasgow's Arches on February 27th, the short tour was due to end at Bristol's Cooler venue on March 4th.
All British shows have been cancelled, with refunds available from the point for purchase. However Anna Calvi is set to head to America to complete a series of Stateside shows late next month.
Anna Calvi has postponed the following shows:
February
26 Birmingham Hare & Hounds
27 Glasgow The Arches
28 Manchester Deaf Institute
March
2 Brighton Komedia
4 Bristol The Cooler
