A new seven inch single has been confirmed, featuring Sandy Denny tracks chosen by fans.
One of the foremost female vocalists of her generation, Sandy Denny's output with Fairport Convention has received renewed appreciation in recent years. The band's counter culture take on traditional music fits neatly with the rise of modern wyrd folk, turning Denny into an icon all over again.
Yet there is so much more to Sandy Denny than 'Liege & Leaf'. Beginning as a solo artist, Sandy Denny worked with The Strawbs, Fotheringay and more with an extensive series of collaborations completed before her tragically young death.
A massive 19 CD box set last year showcased her output. A sprawling, exhaustive collection the box set contained a raft of never before seen material.
Backed with extensive liner notes, amongst those paying tribute were fellow Fairport Convention songwriter Richard Thompson, members of Sonic Youth and more. Complete with lavish artwork, the box set received high praise from fans, critics and fellow artists on its release last year.
Now Sandy Denny is to be the subject of a special one off seven inch in time for Record Store Day. Released to independent shops on April 16th, the single will contain tracks voted for by fans.
Drawn from the recent box set, the special one off release will be limited to just 1000 copies and will be available for one day only. Fans can choose from the following:
I'm a Dreamer (home demo) Disc 19 track 17
Lord Bateman (studio demo) disc 15 track 6
Whispering Grass (studio demo) disc 16 track 12
No End (demo) disc 15 track 15
