Broken Bells are to release their new EP 'Meyrin Fields' on March 28th, containing unreleased material.

Announcing their arrival last year, duo Broken Bells raised more than a few eyebrows. Danger Mouse is no stranger to collaborations, having steered hip hop pairing Gnarls Barkley to worldwide success.

However James Mercer has rarely stepped outside the confines of The Shins. Leaving behind the American alt rock dons, the songwriter teamed up with one of the most flexible producers of his generation.

Named Broken Bells, the group was a happy cohesion of influences. The pair released their debut album last year, winning widespread plaudits for a collaboration which throughout the record felt extremely natural.

Announcing a series of tour dates, the project drew to a close as 2010 rang out. It was expected that Danger Mouse and James Mercer would go back to their day jobs, but it seems that Broken Bells are not finished quite yet.

The pair have decided to release a new EP, consisting of material recorded during sessions for the debut album. 'Meyrin Fields' will be released in the UK on March 28th, and is available to pre-order now.

Alongside 'An Easy Life' and 'Meyrin Fields' - both drawn from the debut album - Broken Bells are set to release two previously unheard tracks.

'Windows' and 'Heartless Empire' was both recorded at the same time as their self-titled debut album. Broken Bells opted not to include the tracks, which will be now be released as part of the EP.

It is expected that Broken Bells will take a break after the release of the EP, although the pair have previously stated that the project will continue.

Broken Bells are due to release 'Meyrin Fields' on March 28th. Tracklisting:

'Meyrin Fields'
'Windows'
'An Easy Life'
'Heartless Empire'
